If you could stop every atom in its position and direction, and if your mind could comprehend all the actions thus suspended, then if you were really really good at algebra, you could write the formula for all the future

Here are just 3 more photos from our trip. Eiffle tower, Gardens of Versailles- which we sneaked into because we were cheapos and didn't wanna pay, yup we did the nonchalent walk along the fence and ducked into the gap, went down some steps and over the barriers. then we had to walk quickly yet not-too-fast-as-it-will-attract-too-much-attention and pretended to mingle with a group of tourists. Muaahaha and we were in. And the Colosseum.

Yes, i know. lately, not even a 'boo' from us.
Went to Cameron Highlands and KL the weekend last. Will put up photos on that.

Anyway, DO CHECK OUT the link to Kenny's ARTWORK. Its under the navigation panel on the right.

The next 4 photos, Big Ben, Tivoli gardens, 30km from Rome with a couple of hundred fountains all working without mechanical pumps, Vatican City, and yes, we saw the new Pope! We even got a cool shot of him, just as he was passing by and waving to the crowd! Then this is Venice! The beautiful city on water!

The first photo (right at the bottom) is of the view from Musee d'Orsay in Paris, an impressionists museum. Really good! Its a view of the Louvre Palace, which at the other end holds the... Louvre Museum. The second photo taken at Versailles, the most extravagant palace of King Louise XIV-XVI(You know, the king Leonardo DiCaprio acted as in The Man In The Iron Mask). They have the most beautiful gardens! And this photo is of Chateau Chenoceau in Tours, France. Its not some king's palace but some noble's house. During WW2, one side was occupied France and the other side, unoccupied, so many soldiers used this as an entry/exit point.

wow! such a quick 1 month! in the blink of an eye, a month has passed. everything that was planned, which seemed so surreal happened! it was amazing seeing the different sights, the culture, the way things are in other countries. really helped to open my eyes. in singapore, everything is so sheltered. so protected. everything works out! not that i'm saying our trip was a complete disaster! on the contrary! everything went fine! we had our finances done up real neatly. we were safe. didnt miss any trains. all was good! in fact, it was a perfect backpacking trip!

this trip, we were so fortunate! we had so many stayovers! EePeng Jie Jie. Uncle Amos. Giulia. The Cozlers. Sui Cheung. Wow! all their help! will be ever so grateful to them for all they have done! they have really made this trip easier on all of us, both financially, and emotionally!

i think this has been the opportunity of a lifetime! i would love to do it again! really! it has changed me in so many ways that no other experience can measure up to! Amazing!

However, home is where the heart is. Even with Singapore's utopian-like environment. This is where i grew up in. No other place can replace this feeling of comfort of home! :)

it seemed so recent that i was counting down the days to the BIG TRIP. it was like 50 days to go..20 days to go..12 days..etcetc..AND now its all over. Went to Paris, London, Tours(that's in France, in the Loire Valley where they make all the wines), Rome, Florence and Venice.

Being gone for a whole month makes you realise a lot of things. Mainly, home is the best place in the world. haha. after spending all that money, travelling halfway around the world, jet-lagged up to the nose and then having that sudden divine-like realisation, with the plane taxiing down the runway at Changi, when it hits you out of the blue. Boy, I was smiling all the way as i walked down the gangway(is it called a gangway, ahh.. whatever that thing is called) and into the terminal. Strange place, home is. Its good to be back.

Well, the other things i've realised is that Singapore is so unreal. Its utopianess, orderliness, peacefulness even and YES, cleanliness (of course, how could i forget that). Its all straight lines, queue numbers and equally-spaced-apart trees. Unreal, this city is. (shit, i'm even blogging like yoda, that's because i've just completed a marathon of episode 4, 5, 6, 1 of Star Wars) . For the past month it's been.. bus and train strikes, maniacal drivers- regardless of lights, red or green, strange gypsy women, tramps on streets, illegal workers running from the police (yes, they actually run in front with all their wares, calling their network of friends on their cells- and all this while the police is just about 50m behind them) . Coming back to Singapore is like coming back to Legoland city, where everything's almost perfect- with matching trees and colour-coordinated buildings. Its like so attached to the rest of the world and yet its not. It almost gives you a sense of complacency, living in a stepford-wives-place like this. Its no wonder that most people, in some point of their lives or for many in a large part of their lives get caught up in this Singapore-isolatedness and never really think beyond the sandy beaches. This is the world to many and in fact, the world is so much bigger.

OKay, enough of that. The heart-warming thing though, about our uniqueness- is the sound of Singapore. For example, in Venice, as we were strolling down the cobblestoned lanes surrounded by all its quaint-few-hundred-years-old buildings, taking in the atmosphere and doing all the touristy things.. from behind we heard these 2 girls saying.. 'ya lor, this one so expensive hor, lets go there'..haha, uniquely Singapore.. I think it should be distinctively Singapore. And in Paris, along the Seine, just on the other side of ile de la cite, with Notre dame in view and everything. the artists selling their paintings and stuff, old books and all kinds of knicknacks, with the cloudless sky so blue its almost as if you can see to the other side of the universe or something... then these 2 people come along in the opposite direction and you hear.. 'ya la, like the one in suntec.' Its heartwarming, really, the sound of Singapore, the sound of home.

Boy, it sure is good to be back.
