i suppose the intended recipient would not get a chance to read this, but here goes anyway.
oh my. you have certainly come a long way from the chicken/peacock dance days. that was really brilliant. to think that you are from my generation of dancers. it is very gratifying to know that there are people like you out there doing what they can for the local arts. i am definitely a fan and eagerly anticipating more!
play on, i say! fowl or not.

ok. dont ask me why i am doing another of these movie reviews and as it is i am going mad from schoolwork. i was a superfrau today. instead of feeling all-powerful and pleased from accomplishing an astonishing feat of things, i feel tired and irritated.
time for a movie that really left me clueless. it makes u wonder why people do the things they do. its like, one of the lamest, stupidest, iq-deflating, time-wasting, pointless movie of all time. and yet...
movie - napoleon dynamite
this movie follows the protagonist, napoleon dynamite, as he goes through high school in some small town in the states. set in the 80s - early 90s, with the sort-of retro clothes and the days of the sort-of big hair, even the movie has a certain grainy quality to it - then again, maybe it was the problem with the disc. ha. he is a total geek, lies most compulsively, and is so un-cool and politically-incorrect that you almost feel sorry for him.
although, the movie is slow at times and a little weird, there will be times when you simply laugh out loud at the sheer absurdity of the things napoleon and his geek friends say and do.
try to watch till the end. it gets really good. watch out for napoleon's dance scene. and when his brother (i think) sings his - totally tuneless and yet geeky-ly managed to make a tribute to technology in the process - of a wedding speech. and the horse.
welcome to dorkhood.

ok. yes i watch way too many movies. well, more like dvds. but whatever. shall stop mindless raving about the awesome movies that i watch but instead blog about them. shall start with the couple of movies that i watched when i was in berlin.
Movie - Requiem for a Dream (2000)
ok. requiem for a dream. this would definitely fall into the category of a drug movie, with the likes of trainspotting and spun. its really bleak and it shows the characters sliping into the murky chasms of their delusions as the show goes on. the soundtrack is awesome and opening track is incredibly familiar. this movie is so full of emotion, the ugly scaly monster part nonetheless. it goes up and goes down and it takes you on an emo roller coaster ride. done in really short takes, this film barrels through, almost uncontrollably to the end.
Combined with the talents of connelly, leto and wayans, this movie is one of a kind. and it really opens our eyes to a world (yes, albeit exagerrated) that most of us wouldn't come across. its one that you would admire (for the lack of a better word) and yet wonder why you admire it.
go watch this. if u can find it in singapore that is. or ask me for it. i think i have it somewhere.
